Neil Motteram started shooting live bands back in late 90s, and began shooting assignments for the SF Gate (the San Francisco Chronicle web site) and the San Francisco Bay Guardian. He's shot promo pictures and album covers for numerous Bay Area underground bands, and had photographs in publications as wide as Mojo, the UK music magazine to Latino Leaders magazine. His 2002 live shots of Dee Dee Ramone were printed from Atlanta to Olympia as well as finding a permanent home on CBGB's tribute to the artist.

Neil has a small studio in San Francisco's Castro district and portable studio lights that he is happy to bring to interesting shoots. Currently he remains a frequent contributor to the Bay Guardian, often shooting more interesting portraits for the paper as well as the constant live rock'n'roll. He's also branched out into everything from fashion shoots for local clothing stores to photographing pizzas for a Fisherman's Wharf pizza joint.
